The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, managing the finance team, financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role reports directly to the Owner and plays a crucial part in the company's financial strategy and decision-making processes.
We are a mid-size company with 30+ years in business with an established reputation for high quality and excellence in our field, staying ahead of industry advancements.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain accurate financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statementsEnsure that reports comply with accounting standards and regulations and provide stakeholders with a clear view of the company's financial status on a timely basisReconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger accounts on a timely basis, including cash, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, accounts payable, loans payable, payroll, etc.Oversee the company's financial reporting and ensure compliance with all legal requirementsCreate and manage the company's budget and financial planning processesMonitor the company's cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity to meet operational obligationsManage team effectively by ensuring staff have the necessary skills and resources to perform their dutiesProvide outside CPA with all required documents and reports for preparation of financial statements and income tax returnsLead month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial statementsDevelop and implement financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assetsManage and optimize the accounts payable and accounts receivable processesOversee tax planning, compliance, and audit coordinationAnalyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysisIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the accounting departmentCollaborate with other department heads to develop financial strategies aligned with company goalsPrepare financial forecasts and analysis for management decision-making Required Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferredMinimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a management roleStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirementsProficiency in NetSuite and SAP accounting systemsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent communication and leadership skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentTechnical KnowledgeAdvanced understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and tax regulationsExperience with financial software implementation and optimizationKnowledge of internal controls and risk managementUnderstanding of cost accounting and inventory management principlesFamiliarity with financial forecasting and modeling techniquesPersonal AttributesEthical and professional approach to handling confidential informationStrong team leadership abilitiesAdaptable to changing priorities and business needsSolution-oriented mindsetExcellent time management skillsProactive approach to identifying and resolving issuesBenefitsComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with company match (4%)Paid time off and company holidaysCompetitive salary based on experience   Meet Your Recruiter Randi CarlsonPrincipal, Strategic Staffing,- Executive Search As a partner with Mattson Resources, my focus is Executive Search and Business Development.  My passion is People and building client - candidate partnerships.
